El Dorado Paper Going Digital

The printing press will soon be getting less work at the El Dorado News-Times.

Wehco Media Inc. has announced that the paper, which traces its roots back to 1889, will be adopting a digital-only format, printing only on Sundays and offering iPads to digital subscribers. The transition is scheduled for August, with the paper modeling the approach adopted last year by Wehco’s flagship Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock.

Other Wehco papers also plan transitions, company Chairman Walter Hussman Jr. has said.
