El Sur to Open Brick-and-Mortar Restaurant in SoMa

1 min read

How sweet (and spicy) it is, friends.

The El Sur Street Food truck, a popular spot for lovers of Honduran eats, has announced it will open a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 1214 Main St., the former Esters Pub location in SoMa.

Owners Luis Vasquez and Darren Strayhorn have won over locals with their signature baleadas, chilaquiles, arepas, tacos and other dishes inspired by Vasquez’s home country. The new restaurant’s offerings will include a similar expanded menu, full bar and according to Rock City Eats, “a Honduran brunch on the weekends.”

Much of El Sur’s three years in business have been spent around the South Main neighborhood, making this move feel all the more natural.

“We are excited about the restaurant space, we have spent a lot of time with the truck in SoMa and it is an area that is home to us,” Vasquez says. “We are looking forward to the opportunity to take the next step and share even more food with the area.”

The SoMa restaurant is set to open this summer.
