Little Rock labor lawyer Dan Herrington has joined the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas as chief administrative officer after a 27-year career with Friday Eldredge & Clark LLP.
A native of Palestine in St. Francis County, Herrington was a top labor and employment litigator and a partner in the Little Rock firm for years, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s William H. Bowen School of Law, his alma mater.
“Dan’s skills and experience will enable the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas to continue as a leading employer in Arkansas,” said Vernon “Buddy” Hasten, president and CEO of the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. and Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc. of Little Rock. “His extensive knowledge of labor and employment regulations are as impressive as his dedication to serving others. He will assist our longtime efforts to improve the quality of life for our employees as well as the members and communities we serve.” Hasten’s comments came in a company news release.
Herrington completed a bachelor’s degree in business management at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro before graduating with honors from law school.
At Friday Eldredge & Clark, he focused on all aspects of labor and employment law and was honored many times on lists of the state’s top attorneys.
Herrington said in a statement, “As a native Arkansan I am familiar with the great legacy of the cooperatives and the ongoing efforts to ensure that the 1.2 million members are provided affordable, reliable electricity in a responsible manner. Our employees are at the heart of fulfilling our mission.”
The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas comprise 17 electric distribution cooperatives; Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc, a Little Rock-based cooperative that provides services to the distribution cooperatives; and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp., a generation and transmission cooperative. The distribution cooperatives provide electricity to about 600,000 homes, farms and businesses in Arkansas and surrounding states.
