Entegrity Contracts Offer Lyon College $2.5M in Savings

1 min read

Lyon College in Batesville is looking to save $2.5 million in utility costs over the next 25 years through a pair of efficiency and solar power contracts with Entegrity of Little Rock.

Lyon will buy solar power from Entegrity, an energy services, sustainability and solar development company, at a rate that is less than the college is paying now. That energy will be enough to cover about 30% of the school’s electricity burden, and Entegrity will install energy-saving LED lighting in many campus buildings to compound the savings.

A news release described the projects as a step toward the college’s sustainability goals, and part of an ongoing process. Lyon College will explore possibilities like solar-powered picnic tables that would let students power up their laptops and devices without connecting to the electric grid. Faculty and staff members devoted to sustainability will work with Entegrity “to identify opportunities” in the future for the campus “to support a healthy environment.”

Melissa Taverner, the college president, said Lyon is dedicated to environmental stewardship. “As the renewable energy sector continues to grow and develop in Arkansas, these agreement’s serve to reconfirm Lyon College’s commitment to supporting environmentally beneficial projects  that also make sound financial sense,” she said in a statement.
