Entergy Arkansas Inc. on Thursday named Melanie Taylor its new vice president of customer service. She had been serving in that role in an interim capacity since June.
In this role, which Taylor assumes immediately, the Pocahontas native will lead the utility’s customer service group that includes 680 employees in 63 counties.
“She has demonstrated strong leadership across multiple divisions of the company and commitment to fellow employees during her 20-year Entergy career,” President and CEO Rick Riley said in a news release. “Melanie brings a wealth of hands-on customer service experience and Natural State knowledge to this critically important role for Entergy Arkansas.”
In Taylor’s most recent role as director of customer service for the central region, she was responsible for oversight of engineering, customer service and distribution operations in Pulaski, Saline and Lonoke counties.
She has also served as the utility’s northeast regional manager, customer service center manager and distribution operations manager; held roles in storm restoration and real estate; and managed corportate communications for Entergy Texas Inc.
Taylor is replacing former VP Oscar Washington, who died in April.
“I look forward to building on the work that Oscar began for the future progress of the company,” Taylor said. “The employees at Entergy Arkansas are engaged and constantly looking for ways to innovate and better serve our customers to power the communities where we operate.”
She earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in liberal arts and a master’s in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. A Class XIV Leadership Greater Little Rock alumna, Taylor currently serves on the boards of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, ACANSA Arts Festival and Just Communities of Arkansas.
