Economic developers in Russellville and Entergy Arkansas have announced another commercial site certified as move-in ready for businesses looking to locate operations in Arkansas.
The city’s second “Select Site” under the utility’s economic development program is a 44-acre industrial development known as the Butterfield-Russellville East End Site.
“We couldn’t be prouder to be the only community in Arkansas with two certified sites,” Russellville Regional Alliance for Economic Development President Paul Harvel said at a recognition ceremony this week. Entergy was represented at the event by Omar Clemons, area customer service manager, and Tandee White, community developer.
The utility also presented development officials with a $3,000 check to offset some of the costs associated with meeting certification.
The Select Site program works with communities as a tool to make sites ready and convey that readiness to site location consultants and company leaders.
“Along with providing reliable and affordable power with rates among the lowest in the country, Entergy Arkansas works to prepare the communities we serve for attracting new business and encouraging business expansions that result in new jobs, investments and economic growth,” Danny Games, director of business and economic development for Entergy Arkansas, said in a statement. “With today’s climate, it is even more important that we communicate that state of readiness online and up our digital game.”
The Select Site specifically goes after high-tech, manufacturing and distribution project candidates by offering a thorough audit of site readiness for new or expanding business. Preparedness is a necessity for economic development success in today’s business environment, Games said, because location decisions often require immediate or short-notice responses. Other Select Site properties are in Jefferson County, Little Rock, Magnolia, Maumelle, Newport and West Memphis.
