Industrial sites in Jefferson County and the Port of Little Rock are poised for development after being certified by Entergy Arkansas’ team of economic developers.
A 44-acre industrial parcel in the Jefferson Industrial Park and a 37-acre tract on Frazier Pike at the Little Rock Port have been declared Select Sites by Entergy’s Office of Business & Economic Development.
The designation, bestowed after a comprehensive review and documentation process, means that site location consultants and company decision-makers can list the parcels as prime for development. That word also goes out to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, according to Danny Games, Entergy Arkansas’ director of business and economic development and a former AEDC official.
“Entergy Arkansas works closely with the communities we serve to attract new business and encourage business expansion,” Games said. The Select Site program helps communities prepare sites to compete for high-tech, manufacturing and distribution projects, a company news release said. “Preparedness is a necessity for economic success in today’s business environment. Site location consultant and industry prospects require immediate response times, and communities must be able to respond effectively and efficiently on very short notice.”
Entergy noted that six other sites have been certified in Entergy service areas across Arkansas, including Little Rock, Russellville, Newport, Magnolia, West Memphis and Maumelle.
Entergy Arkansas is the state’s largest electric utility with about 700,000 customers in 63 counties. The investor-owned utility is a subsidiary of Entergy Corp. of New Orleans.
