Nutraceutical Innovations of Fayetteville has launched two innovative rice bran products for the food industry designed to take advantage of rice bran’s natural nutrients and be easily digestable for humans.
The products, NutraBran™ Solubles and NutraBran™ Fiber, are plant-based protein and bulking/fiber ingredients suitable for use in products such as baked goods, meats, cereals, smoothies and snacks.
Rice bran is loaded with nutrients and has many health benefits but in its non-processed state is not easily digested. Nutraceutical Innovations has developed an exclusive process that it believes eliminates this limitation.
NutraBran Solubles has a unique combination of high protein (25 percent by weight) and water solubility which allows it to be readily incorporated into a wide variety of food products, the company said in a press release announcing the launch.
In addition to its high protein content, NutraBran Solubles are high in protein, potassium, calcium, folic acid and inositol, the company said. NutraBran Fiber offers high levels of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.
Both products are low fat, hypoallergenic, gluten-free and high in phenolics and an excellent source of natural antioxidants in processed foods and beverages. The ingredient can be soluble and is nearly flavorless, which makes it appealing to food manufacturers.
Company officials said industry sources have demonstrated strong interest in the products, which offer a concentrated source of soluble proteins. Nutraceutical Innovations is a portfolio company of VIC Technology Venture Development.
