The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday approved the previously announced merger of Windstream Holdings Inc. of Little Rock and EarthLink Holdings Corp. of Atlanta.
Spokesman David Avery told Arkansas Business there are still some state regulatory approvals and shareholder approvals pending, but the companies expect to close the transaction in the first half of this year.
He also said their integration teams have been working since shortly after Windstream and EarthLink announced in November their agreement to merge in an all-stock deal valued at about $1.1 bilion, including debt. The teams are targeting a March 1 close.
