Feds Sue Smackover Pharmacy Over Drug Sales

1 min read

The U.S. government is suing a Smackover pharmacy for filling prescriptions which were “issued outside the normal course of medical practice.”

The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in El Dorado, is short on details about what allegedly happened at Smackover Pharmacy LLC. One piece of information we know is the alleged violations occurred between Jan. 1, 2010, and April 10, 2010. The feds are seeking $53,800 in damages.

Mark Webb, an assistant U.S. Attorney, wasn’t available to expound on the allegations.

A spokesperson for the pharmacy said Thursday that its attorney would give Whispers a call, but we hadn’t heard back by press time.

The Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy reports the Smackover Pharmacy’s license is in good standing and has had no disciplinary problems.

It received its license in May 2005.
