Fiber Energy Products of Mountain View Sold to Colorado Firm

2 min read

Outdoor apparel and technology brand Revelyst, a segment of publicly traded Vista Outdoor Inc., on Wednesday announced the sale of wood pellet manufacturer Fiber Energy Products of Mountain View.

The buyer was Lignetics Inc. of Louisville, Colorado, a maker of eco-friendly wood products including pellets, logs, fire starters and animal bedding.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Fiber Energy Products, which also has a facility in Seymour, Missouri, began producing all-natural wood pellet fuel in 2006. Over time, the company has become a manufacturer of barbecue and grilling pellets and premium hardwood and softwood heating pellets in the Midwest and the South.

In a news release, Revelyst said the sale is part of a plan to drive future growth by rebalancing its portfolio to focus on its highest-value brands and most profitable segments. Revelyst is in the process of separating from Vista Outdoor and becoming a standalone public company, with an expected execution date later this year.

“Lignetics is the right partner at the right time for Fiber Energy,” Jordan Judd, president of Revelyst, said in the release. “Lignetics’ ownership of Fiber Energy will provide the resources and scale that will enable Fiber Energy to reach its full potential, while the sale generates cash for Revelyst that can be reinvested in our power brands and product innovation in support of our GEAR Up growth initiative.”

Fiber Energy Products isn’t the first company Revelyst has divested under its growth plan. In May, Revelyst announced the sale of RCBS, the company’s Oroville, California-based reloading brand, to Hodgdon Powder Co. Inc., a Shawnee, Kansas-based supplier of smokeless and black powder substitute propellants.

Revelyst in March announced an acquisition under the plan. It purchased PinSeeker, a skill-based golf simulator platform. The company will be integrated into Foresight Sports, a maker of golf launch monitors and simulators, in Revelyst’s Precision Sports Technology platform.

Revelyst’s portfolio brands include Bushnell Golf, Fox, Bell, Giro and CamelBak.
