Firehouse Subs Opens in Searcy

1 min read

Firehouse Subs has opened a new location in Searcy. Doors opened Jan. 16, and early business has been good.

Franchisee Matt Crawford said the restaurant expected to serve about 250 to 300 customers a day, instead of the nearly 400 it’s currently getting.

"We’ve been very fortunate," he said. "We’re the new kid in town. Everyone is going to try us."

The inside of the 2,600-SF restaurant, located at 1547 E. Race Ave., features a custom hand-painted mural, which is found in every store. Searcy’s design includes the Searcy Fire Department’s Engine No. 1 next to the Harding University sign and the Bison mascot.

Crawford said he chose Searcy for the new location because it was one of the bigger cities he’d encountered while traveling around the state that didn’t have a Firehouse Subs.

This is the second location for Crawford, who also runs the Jonesboro location. He has plans to open more stores.

He said he got into the business because he enjoys the interaction.

"Normally you’ve got a desk or something between you," he said. "[Here] you can actually see if you’re doing a good job or not. You get a lot of opportunities to help your employees and have a team. They become your family."
