FirstLight HomeCare Comes to Little Rock

1 min read

FirstLight HomeCare Little Rock owner Doug Ballinger, 54, said his passion for quality nonmedical in-home care, primarily for seniors, led him to becoming a franchise owner in central Arkansas.

“As a child, I was brought up knowing the importance of caring for our elders,” he said.

FirstLight opened for business in central Arkansas on Jan. 2. The home care provider has three employees in its office and about a dozen caregivers in the region.

Ballinger said he hopes to grow the company to 100 employees within two years.

FirstLight provides home care to residents in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle, Benton, Bryant, Roland, Bigelow and surrounding areas. Services include companion, dementia and respite care.

Although Hot Springs and Conway aren’t in the company’s target areas, Ballinger said, FirstLight can make accommodations with local caregivers.

Ballinger said he saw his grandmother being put into a nursing home and did not fully understand why. He realized later in life that many people simply didn’t know how to provide the care needed.

FirstLight is working to become Medicaid and Medicare certified, a process that will take the business about three to four months to complete.

FirstLight HomeCare Little Rock is located Two Financial Centre, 10825 Financial Centre Parkway, Suite 131 in Little Rock. For more information, visit WestLittleRock.FirstLightHomeCare.com or call (501) 223-3355.

Another FirstLight franchise in the state, FirstLight HomeCare of Northwest Arkansas at Rogers, is operated by Fred Smith and Gannon Randolph.
