Former Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Employee Charged with Theft

1 min read

Jennifer W. Smith was arrested briefly Tuesday and charged with theft for her alleged embezzlement from the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, the North Little Rock Police Department confirmed.

Smith, who had been assistant executive director reporting to Executive Director Ray Tucker, was then released on her own recognizance by Judge Jim Hamilton, Officer Carmen Helton said.

Smith had been fired from the Hall of Fame in December and a forensic audit commenced on her use of the nonprofit organization’s credit cards over the course of several years. The size of the theft was reportedly in excess of $130,000.

Andrew Meadors, president of the Hall of Fame, said he was aware of the arrest but declined comment on Tuesday.

Smith is being represented by Little Rock defense attorney Erin Cassinelli.
