Matt DeCample
Matt DeCample, who served as spokesman for former Gov. Mike Beebe from 2003 until he left office on Tuesday, said Thursday that he has started his own consulting firm.
Capital C Consulting, which will be based in Little Rock, will provide services in strategic communications, media relations, crisis media, corporate improvisation training and public speaking.
“Media relations has its own mechanics that may appear odd from the outside,” DeCample said in a news release. “For example, I’m writing my own press release in the third person, except for this quote, where I’ve shifted to the first person. All industries have their own vocabularies and construction. If you have the right communications strategy and representatives, you can craft an external message in language that clients, investors and the media will understand.”
DeCample, who has performed improv comedy for 12 years, said improvisation can also be applied in the business world, but that there are few options for corporate improv training in the Mid-South.
DeCample worked in television news for seven years before working for Beebe, and has also served as an emcee and host for nonprofit and charity events.
DeCample said in an email that he has a “few clients out of the gate” and that he will be “collaborating with friends as things ramp up.” Those clients include the Arkansas Rice Federation and Delta Plastics.
