Former Interim Chief Marty Schack Will Lead KTHV

1 min read

Marty Schack, a broadcast advertising sales veteran who served as interim general manager at KTHV-TV last year, has been named as the Little Rock CBS affiliate’s president and general manager.

Tegna Inc., the chain that owns Channel 11, made the announcement in a news release Wednesday. Schack will succeed Michael Caplan, who is leaving the station reportedly because of health issues. Caplan, who had been president and general manager since 2011, took a leave of absence last year, opening the door to Schack’s interim role.

“It was an easy decision to return to the family that made me feel at home,” Schack said in a statement, apparently referring to last year’s stint at the station. “It’s often said that people make the difference, and if that’s the case, I have chosen wisely. My wife, Julie, and I were overwhelmed by the friendly community in Little Rock and look forward to contributing to the city’s continued growth and prosperity.”

Schack was most recently director of sales for KENS in San Antonio, Texas, another Tegna station. The company said the University of Texas graduate has worked in broadcast ad sales for more than 30 years, and was previously director of sales at KMOV-TV in St. Louis. He’ll begin his new role in Little Rock later this month.

Tegna, a spinoff of Gannett Co. Inc., has 46 televisions in 38 markets across the nation.
