Fresh Market Activity Generates Shop Talk in Rogers

1 min read

Reece-Campbell Inc. is taking bids from subcontractors to prepare the former Borders space in Rogers for its much-anticipated new tenant, The Fresh Market.

Rumors have circulated for months that the grocery store chain based in Greensboro, N.C., was coming to the Pinnacle Hills Promenade. Its store on Highway 10 in west Little Rock is currently the only one in Arkansas.

Several building permits for the 20,734-SF space were taken out last month. On Jan. 16, Reece-Campbell took out an $84,000 permit for demolition at the site, and Chicago-based General Growth Properties Inc., a 50 percent owner of the Promenade, took out an $84,000 plan review permit.

Grajeda Electric of Springdale also took out a $600 electrical permit for demolition that day.

The call for bids on Reece-Campbell’s website states that tenant fit-up will begin in early March.

Jordan Worrall, an account executive for The Fresh Market, said she couldn’t give any information to the media until the company makes a formal announcement. No one from GGP or the Promenade returned our phone calls by press time.

For those who aren’t familiar with The Fresh Market, its website offers this scintillating description: "Our stores convey the atmosphere of an old-world European market, all under one roof. … The open-air feel of our market presents a feast for the senses as colors and fragrant smells fill the air while classical music plays softly in the background."

Yum.
