Giving Guide: Methodist Village Senior Living

3 min read

MISSION

To provide wonderful life experiences that enable residents and their families to lead full and enriching lives, and to exceed expectations while inspiring hearts and minds.

Methodist Village Senior Living is celebrating 62 years of building a home for the elderly population, a future for those coming after them and a legacy in their community. MVSL is the only complete continuum of care “Life Plan Community” in the River Valley, caring for elders through independent, assisted, memory care, long-term care and inpatient and outpatient rehab. The public is welcome to schedule a tour.

MVSL plans to complete a park and sensory sanctuary on its campus this year. The park will be open to the public and will offer a serene green space environment with a walking trail and picnic areas. The sensory sanctuary will be in the secure memory care unit, specifically designed for those with Alzheimer’s or related dementia, and will be used to stimulate, relax, calm or energize. By adapting the flexible lighting, atmosphere, sounds and textures to individual residents’ needs, it will be able to serve as a multi- or single-sensory experience. The sanctuary will also be used to enhance the training and education of team members in MVSL’s Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) program.
