MISSION
The Old State House Museum (OSHM) works to keep Arkansas history alive for every generation with the help of two 501(c)(3) non-profit friends groups, the Old State House Museum Associates and the Old State House 1836 Club.
The museum’s mission is to collect, preserve and interpret Arkansas history. OSHM is the original Arkansas State Capitol and the oldest standing state capitol built for that purpose west of the Mississippi. Since Arkansas became a state in 1836, it has been among the most iconic buildings in the state, experiencing a lifetime of change and historic moments. Exhibits, such as the conservation award-winning First Ladies inaugural gowns, continue preserving our Arkansas history.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
- Contribute to goal of $100,000 to redesign the First Families Exhibit and tell the deeper story of the First Ladies, Governors and their families’ accomplishments.
- Donate toward $10,000 goal for the Supreme Court Exhibit on the early Arkansas Supreme Court. All branches of government functioned here from 1836-1911.
- Sponsor Seersucker Social/Derby Days. This annual 1836 Club event raises money for the School Bus Fund, which supports field trips to the museum.
