Remember that Bentonville company that manufactures tea mixes targeted to diabetics and consumers with digestive issues? Well, it recently raised nearly a $1 million.
Glucose Health Inc., which sells the mixes under the label GlucoDown, reported raising $960,000 in equity, according to its filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.
The funding will fuel the company’s expansion, said CEO Murray Fleming. GlucoDown sells flavored iced tea mixes and will offer enhanced water.
“It’s still going to be a powder, but instead of tea based, it’s going to be watermelon, cherry and so on,” he said. “The water will still be infused with the particular ingredients that are helpful to folks who have diabetes.”
We told you about the company last year when it raised $65,000 in May 2020, which was on the heels of $360,000 raised in 2019.
“Our diabetic beverages are growing in popularity,” Fleming recently told Whispers.
Formed in 2007, Glucose Health started making the tea mixes in 2015. The mixes are sold on Amazon, in the pharmacy section of Walmart stores and in other pharmacies.
Sales so far this first quarter have already doubled last year’s first quarter, he said. “And a lot of that is being driven by selling on Amazon but also selling through Walmart,” he added.
On its website, Glucose Health touts itself as being the first company to infuse fiber into ice tea, making it attractive for “anybody who just wants to add more fiber to their diet, which you know doesn’t have to be related to diabetes … or a medical condition.”
