Last week we told you about a Greenwood title insurance agent and her agency that had their insurance licenses suspended for allegedly using another agent’s name and license number without permission.
The agent who was suspended, Teresa J. Wright, who owns The Title Agency Inc., told Whispers last week that there had been a misunderstanding, and she hopes to set the record straight at the May 2 hearing in front of the Arkansas Insurance Department. At that hearing, she has to explain why she shouldn’t be permanently banned from handling clients’ insurance in Arkansas.
“It’s a false claim,” Wright said of the allegation. “I haven’t been presented with anything that supports what the complaint is.”
In the meantime, Wright has stopped taking orders until the complaint gets worked out.
“TTAI maintains that it is operating within its rights and has not participated in unethical behavior with regards to this transaction or any other transactions and further maintains that it strives for accurate, timely research results and closing procedures,” Wright said in an email to Whispers.
She also said that she did respond to the AID. As Whispers reported last week, the AID said Wright did respond at first, but then the agency didn’t hear from her again, which prompted the order that suspended her license.
“TTAI promptly responded to the complaint, however the subsequent contact from AID does not reflect an understanding of the situation or the real estate title business altogether,” the email said.
Stay tuned.
