Gretchen Hall Named Tourism Person of the Year

Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Gretchen Hall was named the 2019 Arkansas Tourism Person of Year on Tuesday at the 45th Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

In receiving the award, the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism cited Hall’s work overseeing the $70 million renovation and grand re-opening of Robinson Performance Hall & Conference Center in Little Rock. It also noted her leadership in 2004, when the William J. Clinton Presidential Center opened, and in 2007, when the city marked the 50th anniversary of the integration of Little Rock Central High School.

Hall came to the LRCVB in 2001, beginning in its operations division. She later become the director of merchandising and communications and managed the public relations, communications and marketing initiatives.

She was named the bureau’s president and CEO in May 2011.

Hall serves on the board of directors for Destinations International as well, is the president of the Heart of Arkansas Regional Tourism Association, president of the Arkansas Travel Council, chair of the Arkansas Association of CVBs and an executive committee member of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership.

She serves on the board of directors for the Little Rock Regional Chamber and on the Global Leadership Committee for Destinations International. Hall is a member of the US Travel Association, Skål International and Little Rock Rotary-Club 99, too.

She is a certified meeting professional, certified destination management executive and a published author.

Hall earned her bachelor’s degree from Lyon College and her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

  • Crystal Award: Geneva Lamm and Gina Marchese Pharis.
