James Hawk, the Harrison doctor whose medical license was suspended three times in four years, decided not to attempt to renew his license when it expired at the end of last month.
If you recall, Hawk’s file at the Arkansas State Medical Board was jammed with multiple complaints that he overprescribed opioids and had serious mental health issues.
The board suspended his license in June and a board hearing was on hold until Hawk underwent an evaluation for competency to practice medicine.
The medical board’s attorney, Kevin O’Dwyer of Little Rock, said Hawk’s record will follow him if he applies for a license in Arkansas or elsewhere.
If he applies in another state, the medical board there “will find out that he didn’t renew while under an emergency order of suspension,” O’Dwyer said. “They would know everything we know.”
Hawk’s attorney, Bruce B. Tidwell of the Friday Eldredge & Clark law firm of Little Rock, said he didn’t know what Hawk’s plans were and had not spoken to him since January.
