Phillips Media Group LLC has acquired several newspapers in Arkansas and Missouri as well as printing operations from the Walton family’s Community Publishers Inc. of Bentonville.

The acquisition includes the Harrison Daily Times and Newton County Times in northwest Arkansas, as well as the Bolivar Herald-Free Press, the Buffalo Reflex, the Cedar County Republican, the Christian County Headliner, the Marshfield Mail and the Nixa Xpress in Missouri. The company will also purchase printing operations in Nowata, Oklahoma, and Springfield, Missouri.

Ryan Phillips, the chief executive officer of Phillips Media, said in a news release distributed by the merger and acquisition firm Dirks Van Essen & Murray of Santa Fe, New Mexico, that he was excited to return to the markets where his family has previously worked.

“We look forward to continuing their tradition of producing high-quality publications that make a difference to the residents of this area,” Phillips said.

Phillips’ family has owned newspapers in Mountain Home, Yellville, Berryville and Eureka Springs, and in Missouri in Nevada, Marshall and Maryville, according to the news release.
