Garreco of Heber Springs Acquires St. Louis Company

1 min read

Dental gypsum and dental laboratory supplies manufacturer Garreco LLC of Heber Springs has acquired Pemaco Inc. of St. Louis, a manufacturer of dental gypsum, waxes and ultrasonic cleaner products for dental laboratories.

Garreco will continue making Pemaco-branded products.

“Pemaco’s reputation for providing high quality products with excellent customer service at reasonable prices aligns well with our platform,” Garreco CEO Bob O’Neal said in a news release. “Pemaco customers can expect very little change with the exception of enhanced consistency of product specifications and characteristics, easier to handle boxes and improved label design. Customers will continue to experience extraordinary customer service and timely delivery of product.”

The company said the acquisition will provide customers with access to an entire line of dental products, including acrylics, abrasives and rotary, and will reinforce its position as a leading manufacturer of gypsum and dental laboratory supplies.

Pemaco is a small, family-owned company whose patriarch died a few years ago, according to Garreco Spokesperson Lauren Acklin. That’s why the company was seeking a buyer.

Pemaco’s employees will stay on for 30-60 days to help with the transition, but they will not continue as employees of Garreco because they are not willing to move to Heber Springs, she said. The company did not buy Pemaco’s facility in St. Louis.

Acklin added that Garreco will be hiring people, though she didn’t know how many yet, and that it had already hired three to five temporary workers to help out.
