1 min read

Famed Fayetteville restaurant Herman’s Ribhouse is up for sale.

Owners Nick and Carrie Wright, who purchased the business in 2013, confirmed in a Facebook post that the restaurant is on the market. “This place has meant the world to us, and it’s not a decision we made lightly,” the couple said. “We’re incredibly proud of the memories, the meals, and the community that’s grown around these walls.”

Nick Wright started working at Herman’s more than 27 years ago as a dishwasher for Herman Tuck, who founded the restaurant in 1964. Wright later became the restaurant’s cook. After purchasing the restaurant, he remained the only cook at Herman’s.

“We’re hopeful to find a new owner who loves Herman’s as much as we do — someone ready to carry on the legacy and keep serving up the tradition that’s made this spot so special for so many years,” the Wrights said on Facebook.

In 2006, Don Tyson of Tyson Foods who suggested to Shelby Rogers, then the owner of Herman’s, that Nick Wright take over the business.

Tyson is among many noteworthy patrons of the restaurant. The walls of the modest 2,000-SF building at 2901 N. College Ave. are adorned with photos of some of the area’s rich and famous.

The restaurant’s steaks, hamburgers and ribs have drawn famous and powerful figures from outside the state, as well. “I’ve gotten to feed presidents and all kinds of stuff,” Wright told Arkansas Business last year.
