The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival has received a $10,000 grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
The grant will fund a documentary program for the 2015 festival, “Women Behind the Lens: Black & Latino Filmmakers.” The documentary will focus on contributions of black and Latino female documentarians.
“We are honored to be one of a select group of festivals to receive the Academy’s support,” Courtney Pledger, executive director, said in a news release. “That our vision for “Women Behind the Lens” can now become a reality is thrilling.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has awarded more than $5.7 million to select festivals since 1999.
The 24th annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival is set for Oct. 9-18.
