A Hot Springs hotel has sued its insurance carrier for not paying the full claim to cover the loss stemming from a 2021 fire.
The amount Honest Hospitality LLC, which operates as Hampton Inn-Hot Springs, said it lost as a result of the blaze?
$1.78 million.
Honest Hospitality said that its insurance carrier, Auto-Owners Insurance Co. of Lansing, Michigan, paid about $339,000 of the claim.
Honest Hospitality has sued to collect the remaining $1.4 million for losses to its building, personal property and loss of income, according to the complaint by the hotel’s attorney, D. Scott Hickam of Hot Springs.
Attorney Jamie Huffman Jones of Friday Eldredge & Clark of Little Rock declined to comment, citing the pending litigation in U.S. District Court in Hot Springs.
