Independence County Receives $1.25M Economic Grant

1 min read

BATESVILLE – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has announced a $1.25 million grant to Independence County to be used for infrastructure improvements near a poultry feed mill.

The grant was announced Saturday in Batesville by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, U.S. Sen. John Boozman and U.S. Rep Rick Crawford.

The funding will be used for infrastructure such as an access road and a rail spur near Ozark Mountain Poultry’s new feed mill in Magness – about 12 miles southeast of Batesville.

Ozark Mountain Poultry is building a $30 million feed mill that will triple production of feed and allow for feeding 2.1 million birds per week.
