1 min read

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell said it had given scholarships worth more than $533,000 to 100 recipients as part of its Scholarship for Families program.

The program provides $2,500 annual scholarships to children and grandchildren of J.B. Hunt employees for the recipients to attend college or trade or vocational schools. The scholarship can be renewed annually for three years if the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA.

“This is one of my favorite company initiatives because it enables us to support what’s most important to our people — their families,” Brad Hicks, J.B. Hunt’s executive vice president of people and president of highway services, said in a news release. “From those who were part of our inaugural class to new recipients this year, these students are relentless in their commitment to continuing their education, and we are proud to support their academic journey.”

This year’s recipients are from 25 states. J.B. Hunt said it has awarded more than $1.2 million in financial aid since the program began in 2022, and the company intends to extend the program through a fourth year.
