Jana Haskins Named Head of ASU’s Beck Center

1 min read

Arkansas State University on Tuesday named Jana Haskins the new director of the Beck Center for Veterans, the school’s support center for current and former military members.

Haskins joins the university in Jonesboro after 12 years with St. Bernards Medical Center, most recently at the hospital’s counseling center. She also has served as an adjunct professor in the university’s social work program since 2015.

She succeeds Lynda Nash, who retired earlier this year after leading the center for a decade.

Dr. Scott Gordon, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, said Haskins brings “high energy, a wealth of experience, and longstanding ties to A-State and the greater Jonesboro communities” to the role.

“Moreover, she comes from a military family, which fuels her strong passion to enhance the health and welfare of veterans, active military members, and their families at A-State as well as in northeast Arkansas and beyond,” he said in a news release.

The Beck Center provides services including resources for counseling, personal rehabilitation, advocacy and financial assistance.

Haskins holds a bachelor’s in social work from Arkansas State and master’s from the University of Tennessee.
