Jane Wayland Named Dean of UALR Business College

1 min read

Jane Wayland has been named dean of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business.

She suceeds Tony Chelte, who was relieved of the position early last month.

Wayland has been acting dean since Chelte’s dismissal. She most recently worked as UALR’s chair of the Department of Marketing and Advertising. Before that, she was associate dean of Graduate Studies and interim dean of the college for two years.

Sandra Robertson, UALR’s interim provost, said Wayland received a "strong endorsement" from the business college’s advisory board, which encouraged foregoing any other interim arrangement or a national search. Wayland also received a majority endorsement from the college’s faculty, the university said.

"She is familiar with the goals of the college and the university and has already worked in collaboration with faculty and many central Arkansas business and industry leaders," Robertson said in a news release. "Her experiences as interim dean before and as chair of the marketing department will be invaluable to her."

Before coming to UALR, Wayland taught for 16 years at Eastern Illinois University where she was a full professor and served as MBA coordinator, associate chair, and chair of the School of Business.
