Arvest Bank of Fayetteville announced that Dr. Jason Mizell has been appointed to the lender’s local board of directors in central Arkansas.
Mizell is a colorectal surgeon at Baptist Health in Little Rock. In 2010, he created a business of medicine course to address the deficiency in personal and business financial education for physicians, and to help them be more responsible with their finances.
The curriculum has been highlighted on multiple national podcasts and blogs, and has been adapted for use at universities throughout the U.S., Arvest said in a news release.
As a result of his efforts, Mizell was received the White Coat Investor Financial Educator of the Year award in 2020.
“Dr. Mizell is the personification of our mission at Arvest which is ‘People helping people find financial solutions for life.’ His expertise and enthusiasm will be invaluable as the board helps chart Arvest’s path forward as Arkansas’s premier banking institution,” Ron Witherspoon, community bank president for Arvest Central Arkansas, said in the release.
Mizell obtained his medical degree and completed a general surgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He went on to complete a fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas in colon and rectal surgery.
