J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell gave $1 million for an endowed scholarship fund at the University of Arkansas’ Walton College of Business.

The fund will be called the J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inclusion in Supply Chain Endowed Scholarship Fund. The scholarships it will support are designed for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in supply chain management who “demonstrate their potential to advance inclusivity,” the company said in a news release.

Recipients will be chosen by the head of the Walton College’s department of supply chain management.

“Since launching our collaboration in December, we have identified several opportunities to improve inclusion and sustainability that we are excited to ignite,” said Shelley Simpson, chief commercial officer of J.B. Hunt. ”These funds will help jumpstart immediate needs while creating a long-term initiative to ensure that pursuing a career in supply chain is available to everyone.”

J.B. Hunt also donated $250,000 to the university to promote the college’s current inclusion and sustainability projects.

“Through our multiple collaborations, J.B. Hunt is helping us redefine aspects of the supply chain and shape the industry’s future leaders,” Walton College Dean Matt Waller said. “Together, we’ve addressed topics such as thought leadership, executive education, innovation, undergraduate studies, and now inclusion and sustainability, all in a quest to create a fantastic future where supply chains are efficient and effective.”
