After spending more than 10 years in the River Market, Scott Isslieb decided it was time to find a place he could call his own, so he opened the Scott Isslieb Lapidary & Jewelry Arts Studio.
The studio, located at 404 E. Third St. in Little Rock, is part of the Moses-Tucker Third Street development project, and Isslieb said the timing was perfect.
"Jimmy Moses contacted me and asked if I’d be interested," he said. "It was in line with what I was hoping to develop my business into."
Isslieb cuts most of the gemstones himself, and he does custom jewelry that can be designed right there in the store.
The 320-SF studio features showcases of handmade pieces that attract what Isslieb describes as "powerful, successful women."
"I’m pretty good at picking out what women like," he said.
Since the store opened in December, Isslieb said, business has been pretty good, and there is potential to hire a few employees in the next two or three years.
"This is getting bigger faster than I know what to do with," he said. "It’s hard for me to get any work done."
The Lapidary & Jewelry Arts Studio is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. Isslieb can be reached at ScottIssliebJewelry@Yahoo.com or on the web at ScottIssliebJewelry.com.
