
UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute
Dr. Jill M. Mhyre has been appointed chair of the Department of Anesthesiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Mhyre was previously vice chair of research and associate professor in the department, and has been promoted to professor.
An authority on obstetric anesthesiology, Mhyre has served as director of the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia at UAMS since 2014. She received her medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan Health System.
Dr. Laura Hutchins has been appointed interim director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Hutchins is a hematologist oncologist and a professor in the College of Medicine Division of Hematology/Oncology at UAMS, where she served as division director from 1998 to 2013. She has also served as director of clinical research at the Cancer Institute since 1998. Hutchins received her medical degree from UAMS in 1977.
Monique Thammavong of Cornerstone Family Medical Clinic in Van Buren has earned her doctorate in nursing practice from UAMS. Thammavong received her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a master’s in nursing from UAMS in 2014.
