The University of Central Arkansas has a new dean of its College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.

Jimmy H. Ishee was announced as the dean of the university’s largest college Wednesday. He will takeover the position July 1.

“I am pleased that our largest college will be led by a dean as capable as Dr. Ishee,” Steven Runge, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said in a news release. “His years of experience both as an administrator and in health care will serve our university well.”

Currently, Ishee is dean of the Texas Woman’s University’s College of Health Sciences where he oversees academic programs in dental hygienic, communication sciences and disorders, health studies and health care administration, among other programs. He’s held the position since 2005.

Ishee was dean of the Georgia College & State University’s School of Health Science, prior to coming to TWU.

He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Delta State University. Ishee earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University.

UCA’s College of Health and Behavioral Sciences houses the departments of communication sciences and disorders, family and consumer sciences, health sciences, kinesiology and physical education, military science and leadership, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and psychology and counseling. The Health Promotion and Wellness Residential College will also be under Ishee’s guidance.
