John Brown University announced Wednesday that charitable giving for the fiscal year ending June 30 totaled $23 million, with an additional $2.1 million committed in future estate gifts.
The financial support will impact students, faculty and the university community through a range of programs, scholarships and capital improvements, the private Christian school in Siloam Springs said in a news release.
Of the total, $8.1 million was designated to create 15 new endowments that will provide permanent financial support for the university. The endowments include funding for scholarships, which aid more than 600 students at JBU from $3.6 million in endowed scholarships each year. The university enrolls more than 2,200 students.
More than one-third of the total contributions were directed to JBU’s endowment, aiming to ensure long-term sustainability and growth for academic programs and student scholarships.
“Their support allows us to enhance academic programs and facilities and help keep JBU affordable by supporting student scholarships,” Chip Pollard, president of John Brown University, said in the release.
