John Harrobin to Lead Kinetic After Uniti-Windstream Merger Closes

2 min read

John Harrobin will be president of broadband provider Kinetic once owner Windstream Holdings Inc. completes its merger with Uniti Group Inc., the Little Rock companies announced Wednesday.

The deal, valued at $13.4 billion, is expected to close in the second half of 2025. Uniti (Nasdaq: UNIT) stockholders approved the merger this month.

Harrobin is set to join the combined company, which will keep the Uniti name, from Frontier Communications of Dallas, Texas, where he was executive vice president of Frontier’s $3 billion consumer business unit.

“John is an exceptional leader, and we have long admired his reputation and deep expertise in our industry,” Kenny Gunderman, president and CEO of Uniti, said in a news release. “As we work to close our merger with Windstream, we see immense potential in the Kinetic platform which is an attractive asset with strong fundamentals and a long runway for growth.”

The Kinetic brand is expected to be the go-forward consumer brand for the combined company. Uniti CFO Paul Bullington said in December that the company has aggressive growth strategy for Kinetic and that “everything” is on the table for a brand refresh.

In a statement, Harrobin said, “I am honored to join the Uniti team and to lead the Kinetic business in its next phase of growth. We have a unique set of fiber assets and a talented team.

“My immediate focus will be on serving customers as we enhance our network, and I look forward to working with the team and building a durable operating model that consistently delivers superior results.”
