Jonesboro Radio Group Promotes Mitch Mahan

1 min read

Saga Communications’ Jonesboro Radio Group has a new operations manager, veteran programmer Mitch Mahan.

Mahan, formerly program director for KEGI-FM, 100.5, known as the Eagle, succeeds Rob West, who after seven years in KEGI took a morning on-air position with Saga’s WVVR-FM in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, a station known as the Beaver.

Mahan previously worked for 10 years in Jonesboro as program director at East Arkansas Broadcasters’ KFIN-FM, 107.9, and 11 years at WIRK-FM in West Palm Beach, Florida. “My time with Saga’s Jonesboro operation has been incredible,” Mahan said in a news release. “The chance to oversee these great stations is a super opportunity. I am grateful.”

Trey Stafford, the president and general manager of the Jonesboro Radio Group, said he hated to see West leave, but was glad to have Mahan fill the position.

“Mitch knows good, solid, local, community radio. The kind of radio we do,” Stafford said in the release. “He will build on what is already a solid programming foundation as we aggressively search for his programming partner to join us here in Jonesboro.”

Stafford said the group is searching for a program director and on-air talent to program and market country format leader KDXY-FM, 104.9, known as the Fox, and KJBX-FM, 106.3, known as Hot AC.

Saga, a publicly traded company based in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, focuses on acquiring, developing and operating broadcast properties. It owns or operates stations in 27 markets, including 79 FM stations and 33 AM stations, as well as 80 metro signals.
