I can’t say enough about the Leadership Greater Little Rock program. It is an incredibly unique and gratifying experience and I consider myself lucky to have been involved as a class member (Class XXIV), as curriculum chair (Class XXIX) and as chair (Class XXX). Our community is forever indebted to this program for exposing our current and future leaders to a myriad of viewpoints and perspectives and providing them with the necessary tools to effect positive change throughout this city and state.
There are numerous people and organizations that make this program a success. The Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and all the program sponsors deserve our deepest gratitude for making this program possible. To the community leaders and LGLR alumni who volunteered at many of the sessions throughout the year as facilitators, speakers, and panelists, we sincerely thank you. Our deepest gratitude also goes out to the employers who support and encourage participation in LGLR.
It has been a great honor to get to know the members of Class XXX. We had an amazing year and were fortunate to be able to see and do a variety of things, from touring Dassault Falcon Jet and the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport to getting a lesson on blacksmithing at the Historic Arkansas Museum. Class XXX is a spirited and passionate group and the members certainly made the most out of their LGLR experience. I know Class XXX will continue to serve our community in a multitude of ways and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for this impressive group of leaders. They truly are “One in a Million.”
I want to thank several people who made this experience so memorable. I had the privilege of serving alongside Karen Fetzer as Curriculum Chair of Class XXIX. I could not imagine a better mentor. She is the personification of grace and if I were able to duplicate even the slightest bit of her poise and class, I would consider myself lucky.
This year’s curriculum chair, Kelly Brown, has made the year an absolute joy. Her sincere compassion for others is contagious and invigorating. Although she may be technologically challenged, she makes up for it with heart. I will miss our playful banter and I know she will have a great year as Chair of Class XXXI.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Leadership Greater Little Rock Executive Director Judy Love. I don’t think a week has gone by in the last two years when I haven’t spoken to Judy at least once. She has become an important part of my life and I will always remember our time together in service to LGLR. Judy, you will always be “J.T.’s Favorite.”
Congratulations to Class XXX! You have made this year an unforgettable experience for me and I will forever be grateful. This program has had an immeasurable effect on my life and I will always cherish the relationships I have made through LGLR. I hope it has done the same for all of you.
