Remember how Little Rock TV stations KARK-TV, Channel 4, and KLRT-TV, Channel 16, together laid off about 30 employees last Tuesday?
Well, something curious occurred after the big reduction in force, which insiders told us was across all departments.
Last week, five KARK/KLRT job openings were posted to the Arkansas Broadcasters Association website jobs board. The positions advertised were for two photographers, a news reporter, a sports anchor and a weekend anchor/reporter.
Neither the contact listed on the job postings, KARK News Director Austin Kellerman, nor General Manager Mike Vaughn, who oversees KARK, KLRT, KASN-TV, Channel 38, and KARZ-TV, Channel 42, responded to inquiring phone calls.
Doug Krile, executive director of the broadcasters association, said a KARK employee submitted the job postings on Wednesday, the day after the layoffs, but Thursday morning that employee asked for the postings to be removed from ArkBroadcasters.org.
