KFSM’s Heather Geller Takes Off for Tulsa TV

1 min read

Heather Geller, once a cheerleader at Sacramento State University before jumping to Oklahoma State, has now switched TV teams, leaving KFSM-TV, Channel 5, in Fayetteville, to continue her sports reporting career at KOKI-TV, Fox 23, in Tulsa.

“I couldn’t be more excited about it,” said Geller, who started out in news at KFDA in Amarillo, Texas, where she worked her way into the high school game of the week segment and ended up doing news and sports on the morning show. She said Fox 23 was where she interned while at college, and “it’s kind of like my career is coming full circle.”

Geller, a native of Visalia, California, said that as a woman reporting on men’s sports, she had endured catcalls and some inappropriate remarks, but that she brushed it off as all in a day’s work.

“I am lucky because a lot of barriers have already been broken. I am thankful for the women who helped pave the way.”
