Kimberly Williams has been named director of Arkansas’ Great River Road for the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism.
The Great River Road-Arkansas National Scenic Byway is part of a 10-state driving route along both sides of the Mississippi River, from Lake Itasca in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. In east Arkansas, the route passes through 10 counties. As director, Williams will coordinate activities for Arkansas’ Mississippi River Parkway Commission, disseminate information about the Great River Road and its attractions and develop working relationships with agencies, officials and other leaders in the communities along its path.
Williams was born and reared in Marianna. For 10 years she has served as the Delta travel writer for the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism, and she will continue in that role. She is currently one of three vice presidents of Arkansas Delta Byways, a tourism association that promotes the heritage of the Arkansas Delta region. Before joining Parks & Tourism, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Marianna and Mountain View, and she spent 10 years as development coordinator at the Delta Cultural Center in Helena-West Helena.
Williams is a graduate of Arkansas State University at Jonesboro with a major in communications.
