KLRT’s Weather Forecasts Deemed ‘Most Accurate’

An independent weather forecast research firm, WeatheRate of Phoenix, named KLRT-TV, Channel 16, of Little Rock the station with the most accurate weather forecasts in the market.

KLRT forecasted the weather most accurately between March 1, 2011, and Feb. 29, 2012, according to WeatheRate.   

WeatheRate collects TV weather forecasts from the top 85 TV markets in the U.S., as well as reports of the weather from the National Weather Service and other sources, and compares the forecasted weather with the actual weather in a given market during the course of a year, said Bruce Fixman, president of WeatheRate.

WeatheRate collates the data to determine which station in each market predicted the weather most accurately in the 52-week period.

Nielsen Media Research of New York ranked Little Rock and Pine Bluff as the 56th-largest TV market in the nation in 2011.
