Krista Cupp Takes On Expanded Role at Runway Group

Runway Group of Bentonville on Monday announced that Director of Strategic Communications Krista Cupp has accepted an expanded role at the organization.

Cupp, who has held the communications role since 2019, is now the group’s vice president of community affairs. She’ll oversee the group’s communications, marketing, economic development and public affairs teams.

Runway Group is an investment group created by Tom and Steuart Walton, grandsons of Walmart Inc. founder Sam Walton. It focuses on real estate, outdoor initiatives, hospitality, and businesses committed to growing northwest Arkansas.

Cupp takes over for Mike Malone, who who left Runway Group after six years for an economic development position with the University of Arkansas. Runway Group said Malone will continue to be a close collaborator.

Cupp led the communications strategy for Steuart Walton’s participation in the Arkansas Economic Task Force, according Runway Group’s website, and was a key contributor in the coalition-building among regional stakeholders and partners throughout the region.

Cupp also leads communications for OZ Ventures LLC, the umbrella for a collective of outdoor recreation and art initiatives.

She was previously vice president of The Herald Group, a public relations firm in Washington, D.C.
