Arkansas native Krystle Sherrell has joined KFSM-TV, Channel 5, as a Fort Smith-based reporter. Sherrell grew up in Maumelle and graduated from Central High School before an award-winning broadcasting career at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
“I interned at KATV in Little Rock and for “The Ugly Uncle Show,” Sherrell said, referring to a three-hour weekday sports radio talk show about the Razorbacks. “I’m loving reporting for 5News and am happy to be working in the state where I was born and raised.”
A fellow UA graduate, Kathryn Gilker, a Fort Smith native, also recently joined KFSM and is based in Fayetteville.
A Westerner Comes East
Ben Creighton, joining KLRT-TV as a weekend sports anchor and reporter, wants to look beyond the athlete and find the human.
A graduate of Washington State University, he comes to Little Rock’s Fox affiliate from KEZI-TV, Channel 9 in Eugene, Oregon.
“I’ve learned that college athletes are more than just, well, athletes,” Creighton told TV Spy, the Adweek blog. “Each one has a life story or something unique about them that they want to share. I pride myself on creating big feature and human-interest stories.”
