KTHV has named a new sports anchor from Colorado via Casper, Wyoming, but she knows how to call the Hogs.
Taylor McGregor, a 2015 graduate of the University of Arkansas, will lead Channel 11’s sports desk starting next month, KTHV President and General Manager Michael Caplan announced Tuesday. McGregor, who grew up in Denver, comes to Little Rock from KCWY in Casper, where she was sports director at News13. Previously, she was an intern at KNWA in Fayetteville and a student assistant at the UA’s Razorvision, where she learned to shoot live sports events, produce highlight reels and interview athletes and coaches.
Covering the Hogs was “junk food” she couldn’t get enough of, McGregor said in a news release from KTHV, and she’s “excited to be back in the Natural State, sharing stories from kids’ sports to college and everything in between.”
In her brief career as a college and professional sportscaster, McGregor has been a social media reporter for ROOT Sports Pittsburgh and is proud of her coverage of Derek Jeter’s final season with the New York Yankees and the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. She witnessed what she calls “possibly the greatest game in major league baseball history” as a teenager in October 2007 when the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres in 13 innings to take a wild card berth in the National League playoffs. The Rockies won the pennant but were beaten by the Boston Red Sox in the World Series, but that took none of the shine off for McGregor.
“I knew that night that I had a passion for storytelling and would become a sports broadcaster,” McGregor wrote on her personal webpage.
“We are thrilled to have Taylor join the THV11 team,” Caplan said in the release. “We know her passion will motivate her as she tells the great sports stories in the state.”
News Director Dave Parker predicted that McGregor “will help make THV11 an even stronger team.”
It was not immediately clear what the addition of McGregor will mean, if anything, to the rest of the KTHV sports staff. A phone call and email to a station media representative wasn’t immediately returned.
McGregor’s goal is to be transparent and authentic, but above all to work hard, she said on her home page, citing Colossians 3:23. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
