KTHV News Director Dave Parker is leaving the station after six years, the Little Rock CBS affiliate’s management confirmed to Whispers Thursday.

Buzz had been growing in Little Rock broadcasting for several days, and station President and General Manager Marty Schack confirmed the rumors in an email.

“He has resigned and is working with us through next week,” Schack said. “The job is posted, and a search has begun.”

Shayla Teater, Parker’s assistant news director, will be in charge of the newsroom in the interim.

Teater is the daughter of Doug Krile, the longtime Little Rock anchor and former executive director of the Arkansas Broadcasting Association.

Parker, who came to Little Rock from WCAU in Philadelphia, couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday afternoon. A Murray State University graduate, Parker worked as a reporter in Kentucky, and Indiana before landing in 1990 at WHBQ in Memphis, where he covered the murder case of the West Memphis Three. He shifted to news management later in the 1990s and joined Channel 11 as news director in 2013.
