KTHV-TV, Channel 11, will debut two new local news programs to go with a new state-of-the-set at its station on Izard Street in Little Rock next month, President and General Manager Marty Schack announced Monday at the CBS affiliate.
The shows will be “enhancements” of two newscasts already in the station’s lineup, according to a THV 11 news release.
A morning show, “Wake Up Central,” will take the place of “THV 11 This Morning” on Tuesday, Oct. 29, running from 5 to 6:30 a.m. The program’s name is new, but the faces will be familiar. Current anchors Laura Monteverdi, Rob Evans and Amanda Jaeger will take a fresh look at local news, offering new segments and “need-to-know forecasts” that convey the station message, “live and love local,” officials said.
The other new newscast, “630 Central” will make its debut at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, taking its name from both its time slot and Interstate 630, cuts through Little Rock only blocks from Channel 11. The program will be hosted by longtime Channel 11 favorite Dawn Scott.
“The ‘Wake Up Central’ team has a refreshed and innovative vision for morning news,” Schack said. He called 630 Central a “new new show” bringing conversations “that can connect us, and sometimes even divide us.”
“Not only do I feel invigorated by the concept of 630 Central, I think Arkansas will be, too,” Schack added. “We can’t wait to serve our audience in new, unique ways.”
The timing of the new programming will coincide with the debut of a new set at KTHV, which first went on the air in 1955. The CBS affiliate is owned by Tegna Inc.
